When he conducts those polls in private, Mr. Trump often compares Mr. Vance’s performance to his own achievements. He has told several allies that Mr. Vance has never won a tough race without his help. (Mr. Trump’s endorsement got Mr. Vance over the finish line in a tight race for an Ohio Senate seat.) He has brought up the number of vacations Mr. Vance has taken as vice president. (Mr. Trump does not generally take them.)
He has repeatedly mentioned the vice president’s initial opposition to starting a war with Iran and has done so in front of Mr. Vance. (“I’m more of a peace person than you are — but I had to do it,” he has said to him.) The president has also questioned his decision to send a Vance-led delegation to a negotiation session in Pakistan that failed to end the war.
Mr. Trump, always keenly attuned to the optics of the presidency, has zeroed in on moments when Mr. Vance might not look the part. He has repeatedly …Yana

Cardinal Pizzaballa Intervenes - Israeli Military Stormed Christian Village

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa of Jerusalem reportedly intervened with Israeli authorities after its military attempted to stop preparations for a Catholic Marian festival in the Christian Palestinian town of Taybeh on May 29.
Israeli military vehicles entered the village during preparations for the annual celebration honoring Our Lady and ordered organizers to leave the area.
Witnesses also claimed that a stun grenade was deployed during the incident.
The parish priest overseeing the event immediately contacted Church authorities. The matter was then elevated to Cardinal Pizzaballa, who spoke with Israeli officials and secured permission for the festival to proceed.
“Our fear this morning was that radical settlers would disrupt preparations for the Marian Festival. Instead, it was far more disturbing to watch the Israeli military intervene,” said Lex Pouliot of the Vulnerable People Project, who was present in Taybeh.

France Moves to Criminalize Priests Who Keep the Seal of Confession

A bill due for debate in the French National Assembly on June 1 could require Catholic priests to report abuse disclosed during confession.
Article 9 of the proposed legislation would remove exemptions for ministers of religion regarding information obtained "in the exercise of their ministry." The provision directly threatens the seal of confession.
In a statement issued on May 29, the French bishops' conference expressed "great concern," warning that the bill could undermine freedom of conscience, freedom of worship, professional secrecy, and educational freedom. The bishops argue that ministers of religion are being explicitly targeted by the amendment, while other forms of legally protected confidentiality like lawyers remain governed by their existing legal frameworks.
The bishops insist they fully support efforts to combat child abuse. However, they argue that forcing priests to violate the seal of confession would cross a line with significant implications for religious liberty …Yana

Under the proposed French child protection bill debated in the National Assembly, priests who refuse to report abuse disclosed during confession could face up to 3 years in prison and a €45,000 fine. These penalties align with France's standard criminal code for failing to report the mistreatment of a minor.

Trinity Sunday: Let St. Gregory Teach Us Again
Most Catholics will not hear a substantial homily on the Trinity this Sunday. That is understandable. The mystery of one God in three Persons stretches language to its limits.
Rather than attempting something new, let us listen to one of the Church’s greatest teachers.
St. Gregory of Nazianzus, known simply as “the Theologian,” spent his life defending and contemplating the mystery of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Nearly sixteen centuries later, his words still illuminate what our own explanations often struggle to express:
“To us there is One God, for the Godhead is One… but when we look at the Persons in Whom the Godhead dwells… there are Three Whom we worship.”
On this Trinity Sunday, let us approach this mystery not with frustration at what we cannot fully explain, but with awe, gratitude, and worship.

Trinity Sunday: Let St. Gregory Teach Us Again
Most Catholics will not hear a substantial homily on the Trinity this Sunday. That is understandable. The mystery of one God in three Persons stretches language to its limits. Yet the Church has spent two thousand years contemplating this mystery. Rather than attempting something new, let us listen to one of her greatest teachers.
St. Gregory of Nazianzus (c. 329–390), known simply as “the Theologian,” devoted his life to defending and contemplating the mystery of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Nearly sixteen centuries later, his words still illuminate what our own explanations often struggle to express.
In his Fifth Theological Oration, Gregory writes:
“To us there is One God, for the Godhead is One… When we look at the Godhead, or the First Cause, or the Monarchia, that which we conceive is One; but when we look at the Persons in Whom the Godhead dwells… there are Three Whom we worship.”
Gregory refuses both confusion and division …

Toronto Catholics Petition Cardinal Leo to Mediate between Vatican and the FSSPX

More than 140 Catholics residing in the Greater Toronto Area have hand-delivered a letter to Cardinal Frank Leo of Toronto, requesting that he intervene as a mediator between the Vatican and the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX).
The letter was organised by José LoMonaco and his wife. It was submitted this week, according to Newsweek.com on May 29.
Most of the signatories attend FSSPX chapels, though none are formal members of the Fraternity.
The group is asking Cardinal Leo to intervene and get a "paternal approval" from Pope Leo XIV for the FSSPX's upcoming episcopal consecration on July 1.
Cardinal Leo was chosen as the recipient because, as Archbishop of Toronto, he has pastoral responsibility for the signatories and, as a member of the College of Cardinals, has direct access to the Pope.
Neither the Archdiocese of Toronto nor the Holy See Press Office has responded to the petition.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 3,16-18.
God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Notre Dame Priest Abused Students for 17 Years: An investigation of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, found Holy Cross priest Father Thomas King, a dorm rector and history professor, homosexually abused male students over 17 years during the 1980s and 1990s. He used a "weighing scheme" to see students naked and coerced others with threats of bad recommendations. Despite repeated reports, officials were slow to act, and King wasn't removed from ministry until 2020. Notre Dame's president apologized to victims upon the report's release in May 2026. King himself has remained silent.

Notre Dame Rector Sexually Abused Students Over 17 Years

A former rector at a residence hall at the University of Notre Dame frequently weighed male students naked and alone in a deserted locker room and engaged in unwanted sexual contact with some of them during a 17-year span in the 1980s and 1990s, an investigative report commissioned by the university found.
Victims told the investigator that they reported the behavior of Holy Cross Father Thomas King to various Notre Dame officials over the course of several years, but that inquiries and follow-up were slow and lackluster, the report found.
“While Notre Dame’s commitment to addressing clergy abuse has been clear, the University’s execution has been inconsistent,” states the 25-page
report by Helen Cantwell, a lawyer with the New York law firm Debevoise & Plimpton, which Notre Dame hired to investigate the allegations in September 2025.
The report, released Thursday by the university and based on over 100 interviews over a nine-month period, says investigators have confirmed that 15 …

Seven in Ten Believe Crime Is ‘Out of Control’, Country Faces ‘Mexinization’ – Allah's Willing Executioners

A survey has found that over seven in ten people in France believe that crime is “out of control”, with fears that the country is sliding towards a “Mexinization” in which public authority is destroyed.
According to a
poll this week from CSA for Le Journal du Dimanche, 72 per cent of French people believe that crime is out of control.
This belief is firmest among supporters of the centre-right Républicains at 92 per cent, followed by 83 per cent of National Rally, and 62 per cent of supporters of President Emmanuel Macron’s neo-liberal bloc.
The sentiment was also held by a majority of left-wing voters at 55 per cent overall. This included 58 per cent of supporters of the far-left La France Insoumise party of Jean-Luc Mélenchon and 51 per cent of Socialist voters.
Only Green Party supporters were below a majority, at just 45 per cent, in not believing that the country faces the prospect of becoming like Mexico, where the state loses authority to rogue criminal elements.

Another Italian Archbishop Leads Homosexual Vigil

Worse than Germany: On May 21, Archbishop Gherardo Gambelli of Florence presided over a prayer vigil against “homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia”. 300 participants, including clergy, gathered.
The event took place in the parish of Beata Vergine Maria delle Grazie all'Isolotto in Florence, a church located in the Isolotto district. This area is historically associated with ecclesiastical rebellion in the 1960s.
During the vigil, Archbishop Gambelli cited Acts 10:34-35: "God shows no partiality, but in every nation anyone who fears Him and does what is right is acceptable to Him."
He presented the passage as a reflection on the dignity of every person and the need to reject prejudice and hatred.
The event featured personal testimonies from unrepentant homosexuals.
